What is a blushing bride?

The term traditionally stemmed from the fact that in the old days, women were typically virgins, with very little knowledge of sex or what went on during the wedding night.

The bride's attendants (usually older women who were already married - and often the bride's mother was there to dress the bride as well) would tell her all sorts of bawdy stories of what, how, etc, would go on in the marriage bed.

So when she approached the groom, and the ';blusher'; (the veil covering the bride's face) was raised, she was typically beet red with embarrassment.

Hence, the term....';blushing bride.';What is a blushing bride?
It's a term used to discribe how the happiness and excitement of love and marriage is shown on the brides face. She's glowing with beauty!What is a blushing bride?
all excited about the day and events surrounding the wedding and wedding night i suspect. Dont see too many of them now-a-days!! What with fake tans etc.....
Its just a term used to describe brides. It really doesnt ';mean'; anything. You will probably have at least one picture taken the day of your wedding where you are looking down and smiling, like you are shy, thats the epitome of the ';blushing bride';
I always thought that it originated back when brides were young (in their teens) and were virgins on their wedding day...hence the blushing. But I guess It could also be that you are glowing with excitement on your wedding day.
